Day #3 (August 3, 2022): Chris spent the day at a local Ram dealership getting the alignment fixed and having the truck inspected after last night’s car wreck, while Emily and the kids’ hung out in the RV doing school and virtual music lessons. Amazingly, the truck was drivable and capable to tow our huge rig within 24 hours of the wreck. St. Louis experienced a flood the week prior to our arrival, so repair shops were backlogged, and rental vehicles were unavailable. To have our truck drivable in less than 24 hours later was a small miracle in and of itself. Huge praise for such a quick turn-around!!! Now, for the truck body issues, well, we are driving our now-beat-up truck as is ‘til we can stay put in one location for 3+ weeks, which will be Christmas in Nashville.
Day #4 (August 4, 2022): Emily and the kids’ explored St. Louis while Chris caught up on some work back in the rig. We visited the St. Louis Zoo (awesome free zoo; Emily loved the polar bear) and Magic House children’s museum. In between, we took an Uber to Ted Drewes Frozen Custard, which is a St. Louis landmark.

We tried to go to Grant’s Farm and Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site, but both were closed due to heavy rains and more local flooding from the previous night. Our Uber driver was gracious to our embarrassing mini-fiasco, and we quickly came up with a last minute Plan B: Magic House. (Yeah, Emily wasn’t quite ready to drive such a monster big truck in a big city after the week’s earlier events. So thankful for Uber!)
